3D scents – cinema

This new technology makes it possible for the viewer to see a movie in a more intense way. Thanks to the 3D technology the viewer has the feeling that they are really there where the things in the movie are happening. It’s like they are in the movie themselves.

The 3Dscents is a technology that makes it possible to make that feeling even stronger. Special scent diffusers, which are hidden into the cinema, will spread different scents into the cinema. The smell of food, places and city’s etc. are coming into the cinema to de people.

Because of this, it is possible to make that feeling stronger. The viewers can really relate themselves to the movie because the scent can call their own memories.

More in the future, this concept can be available for the people at home, and make it possible for them to experience the same as in a cinema. This would be the Home cinema scent set.

Not only is this an interesting experience, it is also good for the sell of different products. Think about commercials for perfume, food and cooking programs.

You can see, the 3D scent & home cinema scent set are full of success.

Tijdens de presentaties moesten we aantekeningen maken d.m.v. steekwoorden of kleine tekeningetjes en hier vervolgens een verbinding in vinden.

Geur

Viktor & Rolf zijn meesters in het oproepen van complexe imaginaire werelden. In hun project Alternative No. 1 nemen ze de codes van zo’n wereld onder de loep. Het parfum dat ze creëren is uit onverwachte elementen opgebouwd. Het sprookje waar we maar al te graag bij wegdromen wordt verstoord door een geur, een fles en een campagne die juist nare ervaringen oproepen.

Presentation

Thinking of the term 'Smell, Life, Technology', i immediatley thought of the sense wich Victor & Rolf, de Dutch designersduo, devoloped exclusivley for 'The Art of Fashon' exebition in Boijmans van Beuningen Rotterdam.

During the exebition, visitors could enter a wooden complex where they would reacht a dark alley.

Almost every visitor noticed a strange sense there. At the end of the alley, suddenley there appeared a lightened strut. On that strut, Victor & Rolf had presented a perfume bottle made out of different pieces.

Personally i wasn't really positive about their new perfume. I thougt it smelled a bit odd. It was a weird sens i couldn't explain and other people shared my opinion.

Later on i found out that Victor & Rolf had tried to copy the smel of a vagina.

In class i heard the perfume smelled like apples, but i'm not sure, i can't remember.

This was a sort of performing art, and was made for people to think, to talk, to smell and making memories.

Assignment [1]: Research and find an interesting, existing example of "Smell - Life - Technology". It does not necessarily use the digital technology, but it should be something surprising, innovative, and interesting. You can use the internet as resources.

Explain briefly on your blog-site what it is about, and also why you got interested in it. Make a presentation the next week with using your blog.

In de les van vrijdag 9 april zijn we weer bezig geweest met het programma flash.

Hier hebben we een begin gemaakt met een portfolio presentatie in flash.

thuisopdracht voor 9 april
Maak een poster a3 in illustrator of iets kleiner als de poster aflopend moet zijn. In de poster moet te zien zijn wat we sinds 19 februari gedaan hebben. Zorg ook dat in je poster de titel en de url van je blog voor crosslab staat. Probeer ook een manier te vinden om gif's en flashfilmpjes te laten zien (animatie-print).

De poster moet geprint ingeleverd worden.

Tijdens de les hebben we gewerkt aan een flashfilmpje, het ging om een raket dat opsteeg.

In de les kon ik niet goed meekomen en heb het daarom vervolgens zelf geprobeerd. Ik ben aan de slag gegaan met een tutorial en ben tot het volgende gekomen. De erasmusbrug, waarvan een raket opstijgt de hoogte in en het naastgelegen KPN gebouw schijnt licht.

Deze les softwareinstructies zijn we bezig geweest met het maken van een raster, en hier vervolgens een huisje in 3D op te maken.

Het raster is gemaakt door lijnen d.m.v. een vierkant blokje aan de zijkant, van waaruit iedere x schuine lijnen getrokken worden.

Deze lopen dwars door elkaar heen, waardoor er een raster ontstaat.

Vervolgens selecteer je alle lijnen ( appeltje A ) en klikt in het menu 'weergave', op hulplijnen maken.

Hierop heb ik het huisje gebouwd, door de raster lijnen te volgen.
